It's a table at the Small Business Expo I recently attended. Anyone can put their card on a table for a specific kind of service. So everyone around their card is a competitor. And it's the most obvious example of "does my brand stand out" I've ever seen.
Look at it for a second. Really look.
Which card would you pick up?
This is a table full of competitors. They all basically do the same thing. So which one are you picking up?
This is what it actually looks like when you're competing for attention:

Most of the businesses at that expo probably do good work. Most of them probably solve real problems.
But in that momentโwith 100 cards in front of someone who's already tiredโyour brand clarity is survival.
So here are the real questions:
If your card was on that table, would someone pick it up?
Youโre experiencedโyouโve been doing this for 20 yearsโฆ but do you look like it? Do you look trustworthy? Helpful
You have credibility or you wouldnโt have started your company. But do you look credible?
What about you makes them stop and act?
What stands out to you in this photo?
